A view of the mountains in Lokichoggio

You can see a Turkana home in this shot

8/6/03: "We arrived safely at Lokichoggio and it's absolutely amazing.  The place is surrounded by rocky mountains and long bush covered plains.  Even better are all the local people nearby living in traditional huts, old men goat-herding wearing their traditional wrap cloths with sticks and carry their 'sitting stool'.  Add the bright sun and high temperature and you can see that it feels like we're in the real heart of East Africa..."

"We will be picked up by an IOM convoy with armed escort and drive for an hour across the country...Several say the drive [to Kakuma] is one of the best parts of the trip as you get a great view of the African plain."
