In order to get a taste of the Alps during a school break, my two friends and I went to Abondance---a small village not to far from Evian where we were staying. Because it was well past the ski season, everything there had pretty much come to halt, giving the place a really neat "isolated mountain hamlet" quality. We enjoyed wandering around the area the rest of the day. (1996)

Behind the mists you can see a bit of the snow-covered mountains in the background. Abondance really did look like everything you would expect a "little village nestled in the Alps" to be. I thought that this old, rustic farmhouse made for a really good picture and a nice portrayal of the area. I really like this shot of a "cold mountain stream" too...
