The twin black towers of the cathedral dominate the landscape of the city. The Cathedral of Clermont-Ferrand is unique with its black lavastone exterior. The central Place de Jaude of Clermont-Ferrand boasts a statue of Vercingetorix, the famous Gallic leader who united the local Gaul tribes in a revolt against Caeser.
