One of the larger towns on Lake Constance (Bodensee), the old town of Lindau is actually a small island connected to the main shore by a long bridge. Considered the gateway to Bavaria, Lindau reflects the character of that region with elaborately painted buildings and onion-domed towers that differ greatly from the other cities around the lake.
