The small railroad town of Manassas still has most of its central old town preserved but is most famous for its nearby Civil War battlefields where the famous conflict often called "The Battle of Bull Run" (for a local creek) or simply "The Battle of Manassas" took place. (2011)

The decisive Civil War battles of this area weere scattered across many hills and farm fields that can be explored today. Cannons dot the landscape as markers of famous lines where Union and Confederate troops faced off in bloody battle. This former tavern that became a field hospital still stands today. In the old town of Manassas are many presevered buildings like the town hall seen here.
