Niagara Falls

Map on/off

Niagara Falls was the unplanned highlight of a drive through Ontario on a visit to Canada. My visit focused on the falls rather than the town (though it is interesting the kind of area attractions that have sprung up there). The falls actually consist of two sections--an American side and Canadian side--but there are long views of both from the ridges above and you can continue the drive down along the Niagara River for more natural beauty. A view of the water crashing down on the rocks at the American Bridal Falls section of the Niagara Falls. At the Canadian Horseshoe Falls, you can get a spectacular view as you stand right beside the waters thundering over the cliff. Further down the Niagara River is the Niagara Whirlpool over which you can ride in the colorful Spanish aerocar. I was bemused to see the carnival fairway atmosphere of the touristy Clifton Hill area of Niagara Falls. I had always wanted to see the falls, especially on a Maid of the Mist boat tour, so I was quite glad to finally get the chance.
