Stone Mountain is named for the gigantic exposed granite hill that towers over the area. The expansive park, lakes, theme park, and nature area around it are very popular. In fact, actual tiny railroad downtown of Stone Mountain nearby is easy to overlook though it does contain many antique shops and a notable German bakery.

The old covered bridge over one section of the lake at the park. A look down on the great lawn in front of Stone Mountain from which they project the nightly animated laser show. A passing view of the Confederate carving that is a hallmark of the mountain as seen from the aerial skylift. A view of the lake that cradles part of Stone Mountain including its notable covered bridge. The old Stone Mountain grist mill now just a scenic part of the park In winter, the front lawn is turned into a giant 'snow' slide for tubing called Snow Mountain. Part of the Stone Mountain downtown village with small shops and brick side walks.
