Refugee Links and Resources

World Relief Atlanta - WR FaceBook

www.sagalradio.org - Here is the website for Sagal Radio, a local Somali radio broadcast begun by Hussien Mohamed. I worked with Hussien at World Relief and have seen that his radio program serves as an important point of news, discussion, and advocacy for the many Somali-speaking people in Atlanta. The site contains both English and Somali articles.

Cultural Orientation Resource Center - Center for Applied Linguistics  The organization that hosted my overseas training experience in Kenya and which deals with helping people to provide cultural training and adjustment for refugees in transition.  They have great cultural background information on most of the refugee groups that have arrived to the United States and also  training videos for refugees themselves.

Office of Refugee Resettlement (Data) The office tasked with funding much of the post-arrival programs for refugees in the US.  They have a good amount of data about the number and distribution of arrivals to the US.

US Committee for Refugees and Immigrants An organization that promotes the US refugee program by providing basic information and resources as well as highlighting stories about refugees themselves.

Refugees International An advocacy website regarding refugees and the displaced around the world.

The United Nation High Commision for Refugees Information about the work of the UN in camps and other refugee situations around the world
