You can clearly see a steady progression (and I think you can say improvement) of his character over time into the Doctor that we know, especially in his trust and reliance on companions. Though he doesn&#8217;t usually exhibit\u00a0the quirky fun associated with most of the Doctors (but in a few instances it can be found), his reliance on intelligence, disdain for weapons and violence, and devotion to right and justice are all well established here.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Times New Roman;\">Every incarnation of the Doctor has his own signature traits and habits and that\u2019s definitely true of the First:<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Times New Roman;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Times New Roman;\">A tetchy harrumph and look of indignation when confronted (rightly or wrongly)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Times New Roman;\">A dithering excitement when his theories are right<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Times New Roman;\">An eagerness to meet and trade ideas with learned men and scientific councils<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Times New Roman;\">A grandfatherly and kind demeanor with the young <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Times New Roman;\">A master at reading and navigating political intrigue<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Times New Roman;\">He takes command of the room when he straightens up and stands with stern frown<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h6><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Times New Roman;\">\u00a0<\/span><strong><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Times New Roman;\"><em>Signature story:<\/em> The Time Meddler<\/span><\/strong><\/h6>\n<h6><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Times New Roman;\">\u00a0<\/span><strong><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Times New Roman;\"><em>Best match to a companion:<\/em> His tete-a-tetes with Barbara<\/span><\/strong><\/h6>\n<blockquote><p>Have you ever thought about what it&#8217;s like to be wanderers in the fourth dimension?
