Somali Bantu homes in the newest section of Kakuma

Bantu children excitedly come to pose for the camera

“By far the most amazing, and hard to believe, part of the tour was visiting the interior of the camp itself where all of the Somali Bantu live. As you drive up, you see rows and rows of mud brick tin-roofed buildings no bigger than a shed in the US. The dust is already swirling as the Land Rover pulls up and when the wind sweeps over the dry and otherwise barren site, huge clouds of dust are blowing everywhere, stinging eyes and covering everything in a layer of dust. Running around and excited to see the IOM trucks, and even more a couple of mzungus getting out, are what seems like a thousand children of all ages. They are coated in the dust and probably don’t care. They wear tattered clothing of a size too big but are laughing, greeting, and extremely curious."
