"The parts of the camp with Ethiopians and Somalis are much, much more advanced.  They have created entire strips of markets with shops full of elaborate items, restaurants, photo shops, and even areas with TV.  They are able to do so because they have been in Kakuma so long and have very well established friends and family in the US who must send money which goes a long way in Kenya...Also milling about in all these areas are the local Turkana population who come into the camps to sell or trade wood and charcoal.  They stand out by their totally different dress which is right out of an introductory anthropology handbook."
