"We had to hurry back to the IOM camp because others were waiting for us to be able to leave.  Going up to Loki with us to the airport were eight of the IOM staff.  Apparently, people try to go up every weekend at any time possible because Loki has a satellite tower for mobile phones and the people can call and talk to family or friends.  Sure enough, as we passed a certain point on the road, everybody's phones suddenly beeped into range.  They all excitedly bought phone cards and separated to call their wives or family.  It was good reminder of how tiring and isolating work in in a place like Kakama must be."

"Back here in the hotel room of the Landmark in Nairobi, Kakuma already almost seems like a world away.  I took a long shower to wash away all the dust of Kakuma from the past three days.  Thinking back to our relatively short time in the camp, it's going to be hard to process all these things we saw and explain them to other people.  Words just won't be adequate to describe the way some things felt."

Back at the Landmark Hotel in Nairobi---quite a contrast to Kakuma
